Reading, imagination, and English from the start

Fount Academy creates opportunities for children to learn, and to build mindsets focused on bringing better solutions to local challenges.

We work with young children and the teachers who guide them, in preschools and community schools across rural Burundi. Children learn to read and imagine. Teachers gain the training and the materials to teach well.

Support that stays with a teacher for years

Good teaching multiplies. When a teacher learns to plan a lesson and lead new activities, every child in that classroom benefits, this year and for years after. Fount Academy invests in training and in the everyday materials a classroom needs.

In 2023, 83 children received school materials, including notebooks and writing implements, and two preschools received financial support in rural Burundi.

Forestine, from teacher to head teacher

Forestine grew up in Gasaka, near Makamba. She began as a preschool teacher and went on to become head teacher at FAHEKI Kayogoro School. Her path is the kind of growth Fount Academy exists to make ordinary.
